Carnahan Joins Advocates of Worker Intimidation, Dodges Questions
April 17th, 2009
Lloyd Smith: “Robin Carnahan called into question both her straightforwardness and readiness for the job.”
In a rare public sighting, Robin Carnahan shared the stage today with Jimmy Hoffa who announced the International Brotherhood of Teamsters’ are joining her campaign for U.S. Senate. According to the Kansas City Star, Carnahan dodged at least three questions about eliminating the secret ballot for workers, and in fact, claimed that she was unaware of the legislation’s current form.
Lloyd Smith, Executive Director of the Missouri Republican Party today released the following statement:
“It is sad day when our state’s highest-ranking election official cannot bring herself to admit that she opposes the secret ballot. An endorsement from the Teamsters this early in the election cycle can only mean that Carnahan has assured the union that she would vote to eliminate the secret ballot for workers, yet when asked, Carnahan refused to give a direct and honest answer. By unabashedly dodging questions, Robin Carnahan called into question both her straightforwardness and readiness for the job.”
