MRP Calls On Missouri Democrats To Take A Stand On Campaign Finance

Jefferson City - Barack Obama proved himself to be a typical politician willing to say or do whatever was needed to get elected by breaking his promise to use taxpayer financing so he could spend without limits in his campaign for President.

Missouri Democrats who claim to want campaign contributions limits have been silent about Obama’s action. The Missouri Republican Party calls on Missouri Democrats to take a stand on Barack Obama’s broken promise.

“Barack Obama broke his word so he could spend unlimited amounts of money in his campaign.  In light of this week’s revelations about the Nixon/Koster/Hatfield money-laundering scheme, now would be the time for Missouri Democrats who claim to want limits on campaign fundraising to take a stand on Obama’s broken promise," said Tina Hervey, communications director for the Missouri Republican Party.  "Barack Obama and the Democrats like to assert the money they raise is all from small donors when in fact much of it comes from trial attorneys and billionaire hedge fund managers.  Any Missouri Democrat who claims to want to limit campaign contributions should condemn Barack Obama for changing his position on campaign finance and also condemn the money laundering activities of Nixon, Koster and Hatfield.”
