Brad Robinson Joins Growing List of Lawbreaking Democrats
January 25th, 2008
JEFFERSON CITY - The growing list of Missouri Democrat lawmakers turned lawbreakers has grown to five after Rep. Brad Robinson was charged with a felony for allegedly driving away after hitting a man with his pickup truck on New Year’s Day. Robinson, of Bonne Terre, faces up to four years in prison and up to $5,000 in fines.
“The felony charge against Brad Robinson is another sad example of a Democrat lawmaker violating the very same laws they are sworn to uphold. It is becoming increasingly clear that Democrats cannot be trusted to obey the laws of this state,†said Paul Sloca, communications director for the Missouri Republican Party. “Perhaps it is time for Jay Nixon to sit his folks down and give them a crash course on what is legal and what is illegal in this state, although one has to wonder if Nixon is actually suited to the task.â€
Robinson now joins the list of disgraced Democrats including Rep. John Bowman of St. Louis who pleaded guilty earlier this month to his role in a bank and credit card fraud scheme. Bowman is resigning his House seat.
Meanwhile, Sen. Chuck Graham pleaded guilty to drunken driving late last year after he was involved in an accident. Even though Graham’s license was suspended for three months, he weaseled his way of out the mandatory revocation of his driver’s license that other Missourians would face.
And then there is Sen. Jeff Smith and Rep. Joe Aull, who were both charged last year for presenting a false identification at a Boonville casino. Both are busily engaged in legal maneuvering to try and avoid taking responsibility for their actions.
