Jared Craighead, Executive Director of the Missouri Republican Party, made the following statement on the state Senate’s passage of the Lews and Clark Discovery Initiative:

“The initial passage of the Lewis and Clark Discovery Initiative by the Republican-led state Senate is a victory for Missouri students who stand to benefit from the millions of dollars in additional funding for scholarships and school facilities provided by the measure. Despite the desperate political obstructionism embraced by Democrats and their leader Jay Nixon, Missouri Republicans and Gov. Matt Blunt stood up for Missouri students and their families as part of their ongoing commitment to improve higher education. The Governor and Republican lawmakers will continue to fight for the Lewis and Clark Discovery Initiative as it moves through the legislative process to ensure that Missouri students will continue to benefit from this bold plan for many years to come.”
