McCaskill Lies: Says She Opposes Contribution Law But Cashes In on It
March 22nd, 2007
JEFFERSON CITY - In a boldfaced lie to Missourians, Claire McCaskill says she opposes a state law allowing unlimited contributions but is using the law to pay off a $1.6 million loan.
McCaskill’s spokeswoman today told The Associated Press: "Sen. McCaskill has always disagreed with the Missouri law to allow unlimited contributions, which was passed under a Republican legislature and signed by a Republican governor." Incredibly, the statement was made shortly after the Federal Election Commission agreed to McCaskill’s request that she be ALLOWED to pay off the loan using the state law she “disagreed with.”
“Claire McCaskill has just lied to Missourians by saying she opposes a state law on campaign contributions then embracing it to pay off a $1.6 million debt she can pay for herself,” said Paul Sloca, communications director for the Missouri Republican Party. “This is an insult to every Missourian who deserves truth from their elected leaders and instead is subjected to the blatant lies of Claire McCaskill.”
McCaskill’s arrogance in the face of the truth is so bold that perhaps she would even consider re-writing the inscription on the Statue of Liberty to read:
“Give me your pampered, your rich,
Your limousine liberals craving to influence,
The means to support my mansion and vacation in Bali,
Send these, the lobbyists and special interests, to me:
I lift my lamp and outshine them all.”
