DISGRACE: Carnahan Orders St. Louis Officials to Allow Fraudulent Registrations
November 2nd, 2006
JEFFERSON CITY - More than a year after being cited by the U.S. Justice Department for keeping some of the most polluted voter rolls in the country, Robin Carnahan is seeking to further corrupt Missouri’s election process by ordering St. Louis election officials to approve thousands of fraudulent voter registrations submitted by a group whose employees have been indicted for voter fraud in Kansas City.
In a letter dated October 30, (http://www.mogop.org/media/sos-stlletter.pdf) Carnahan demanded that St. Louis Election Board accept more than 5,000 fraudulent registrations submitted by the Association of Community Organizations for Reform Now (ACORN) which yesterday had four of its members indicted for election fraud in Kansas City. The FBI is currently investigating voter registrations submitted by ACORN in both St. Louis and Kansas City and the group is currently the focus of a Federal Elections Commission complaint filed by the Missouri Republican Party over media reports that workers were asked to illegally promote Claire McCaskill’s Senate campaign as part of its voter registration efforts.
Democrat Carnahan’s obvious attempts to inflate the voter rolls in hopes of giving Democrats an unfair advantage is no surprise given the level of incompetence in her office. The Justice Department lawsuit against filed against Carnahan last year found that some counties had more than 150 percent of the voting age population as registered to vote.
“It is an absolute disgrace that Robin Carnahan would rather pollute our election system by ordering election officials to approve thousands of fraudulent voter registrations to help Democrats at the polls rather than do her job as the state’s chief elections official and protect free and fair elections in Missouri,” said Paul Sloca, communications director for the Missouri Republican Party. “Legitimate Missouri voters should be extremely concerned that Robin Carnahan would support a group whose members were recently indicted for voter fraud. This latest travesty along with the Justice Department lawsuit and Carnahan’s opposition to the voter identification bill clearly shows the extreme partisanship at play here.”
Meanwhile, Carnahan’s friends in organized labor are engaging in character assassination against St. Louis Board of Elections Director Scott Leindecker who is doing his duty by ensuring that fraudulent voter registrations submitted by ACORN are not placed on the rolls. The American Federation of State, County and Municipal Employees (AFSCME), an ACORN ally and puppet of the Democrat Party, is calling for Leindecker’s resignation.
“It is unconscionable but not surprising that Democrat allies like AFSCME would attack someone for trying to prevent fraud at the polls,” Sloca said. “How these people could support having dogs, deceased persons and 16 year-olds on the voter roles is truly remarkable but it demonstrates their desire to cheat and steal elections.”
