McCaskill, Proposition B Supporters Share Venue: A Coincidence? We Think Not
November 7th, 2006
JEFFERSON CITY - Claire McCaskill has denied allegations that supporters of Proposition B were encouraged to illegally support her campaign. So it is mere coincidence that McCaskill and the Proposition B campaigns are sharing an Election Night venue? The Missouri Republican Party thinks not.
McCaskill’s campaign is planning an Election Night rally at the Renaissance Grand in St. Louis while the Proposition B group supporting the minimum wage ballot measure is ALSO spending the evening there. Many Missourians will remember that some former workers for the Democrat Party-backed Association of Community Organizations for Reform Now (ACORN) were asked to illegally promote McCaskill’s campaign as part of their voter registration efforts for Proposition B.
The serious allegations became the focus of a Federal Elections Commission complaint filed by the Missouri Republican Party which alleges ACORN illegally promoted McCaskill’s campaign. Recently, four ACORN workers were indicted in Kansas City for submitting fraudulent voter registrations.
“Birds of a feather flock together and this cozy Election Night arrangement between McCaskill and the Proposition B supporters has exposed McCaskill’s previous denials as patently false,” said Paul Sloca, communications director for the Missouri Republican Party. “This is just another example of Claire McCaskill’s willingness to deceive Missouri voters. It also adds additional credence to our allegations in the FEC complaint.”
