McCaskill-Hambacker”Blueprint”for Rural Missouri: Gay Marriage, Gay Adoption
June 26th, 2006
JEFFERSON CITY – Missouri Democrats’ hunt for rural votes in Dexter took a bizarre turn over the weekend with the discovery of a blog post by Democrat congressional candidate Veronica Hambacker expressing her unequivocal support for gay marriage and gay adoption.
Hambacker, the Democrat challenger to U.S. Rep. Jo Ann Emerson who was joined by Claire McCaskill and other Democrat Party bosses in Dexter Saturday, told The Southeast Missourian yesterday that her post located at http://gayparenting.thepodcastnetwork.com/2006/02/21/vote-now-usa-today-polls-on-gay-adoption reflected her views.
"Why should we be about depriving people of their rights?" Hambacker said. "I don’t know that we should call it marriage, but if it’s a legal union, that’d be perfect with me. And a lot of children need homes. Just because a child is raised in a homosexual home doesn’t mean they’re going to be gay. The Democrats are in a big tent. There’s enough room for everybody."
Hambacker’s comments were not refuted by McCaskill or other Democrats who have lied repeatedly to rural Missourians about their support for gay marriage and gay adoption.
“The Claire McCaskill/Veronica Hambacker blueprint for rural Missouri includes gay marriage and gay adoption and Democrat attempts to hide this left wing agenda are both dishonest and insulting,” said Paul Sloca, communications director for the Missouri Republican Party. “Democrats like Claire McCaskill can’t fool rural Missourians with rhetoric designed to mislead and misinform. Claire McCaskill needs to put aside their snake oil salesman rhetoric and come clean by admitting that the radical positions of Veronica Hambacker are their own.”
