Kerry, Democrats In Disarray
September 20th, 2004
JEFFERSON CITY - Two new polls released over
the weekend confirm that a significant majority of Missouri voters believe
President Bush is best suited to lead the war on terror and improve our
economy for the next four years.
A poll in
the Kansas City Star found that President Bush leads John Kerry 48-41
percent. Among those surveyed, 33 percent of Missourians said Bush would be
better at stopping a terrorist attack while only 9 percent said Kerry. Asked
their preference to handle the economy, 36 percent chose the President while
32 percent selected Kerry. Meanwhile, a weekend poll in the St. Louis
Post-Dispatch found that 49 percent of voters supported President Bush
compared to 42 percent for Kerry.
"It is clear that Missourians support the President?s
decisiveness on a variety of issues including the war on terror and the
economy," said Paul Sloca, communications director for the Missouri
Republican Party. "Missouri continues to be Bush
Country while John Kerry and his fellow Democrats continue to falter with
voters on a variety of issues."
For example,
Hispanic Democrats publicly complained about Kerry?s disorganized campaign
in the Show Me State while praising Republican efforts to reach out to the
Hispanic community in the state.
"I’ve been invaded by fliers and phone calls, not
from Kerry, but the Republican Party," an unhappy Democrat Caroline
Rios told the first meeting of the Hispanics for Kerry steering committee on
Sept. 16.
"John Kerry and Missouri Democrats are in disarray
and are failing to reach members of their own party including important
groups like Hispanics," Sloca said. "The
President?s commitment to lower taxes and boost economic opportunity is
resonating in Missouri while John Kerry?s lack of vision is plain for all to
see."
