Democrat Ticket Most Liberal in State History

JEFFERSON CITY - Missouri voters will be faced with the most
out-of-the-mainstream political ticket in state history this November with a
group of Democrat candidates who support higher taxes, gay marriage and
abortion on demand.

"This is the most liberal statewide ticket in the history of the state of
Missouri," said Paul Sloca, communications director for the Missouri
Republican Party. "These Democrats want to increase taxes while opposing
traditional marriage and the sanctity of human life. Their radical agenda is
clearly out of touch with mainstream Missouri values."

At the top of this liberal ticket is U.S. Senate candidate Nancy Farmer, who
as a member of the state Legislature was one of only 12 state
representatives to vote against a defense of marriage amendment that
recognized marriage as between only a man and a woman. Next is candidate for
governor, Claire McCaskill, who voted in favor of tax increases as a state
legislator and recently said she opposed a constitutional amendment banning
gay marriage. The extreme liberal views of Farmer and McCaskill are mirrored
by lieutenant governor candidate Bekki Cook, secretary of state candidate
Robin Carnahan, state treasurer candidate Mark Powell and Attorney General
Jay Nixon.

Meanwhile, Republican candidates support holding the line on taxes, banning
gay marriage and opposing abortion.

"The Republican ticket represents a clear alternative to the liberal agenda
that inundates the entire statewide Democrat ticket in Missouri," Sloca
said. "Republicans represent Missourians who overwhelmingly supported the
constitutional ban on gay marriage and defeated an amendment to expand
gambling. The choice is clear for Missouri voters this November."
