GOP Stresses Unity, Grassroots at Convention

SPRINGFIELD - Party unity and strong grassroots efforts were the focus of
the Missouri Republican Party?s State Convention with the final selection of
57 delegates and 54 alternates who will represent Missouri at the 2004
Republican National Convention in New York City.

"This was a truly unifying event for Missouri Republicans throughout the
state," said Ann Wagner, chairman of the Missouri Republican Party. "Our
grassroots efforts at the Convention were unprecedented and we have a unity
of purpose and cause for our candidates."

The delegates and alternates who will attend the National Convention Aug. 30
through Sept. 2 were selected Saturday and at Congressional District
Conventions held in April.

"I am thrilled for the dedicated group of Missourians who will travel to New
York City to re-nominate George W. Bush for President," Wagner said. "In the
past four years, President Bush and the Republican Party have delivered on
their promises to the American people: education reform, a Medicare
prescription drug plan, tax cuts and a safer world. These accomplishments
reflect the Republican Party?s commitment to all Americans."

The more than 1,000 state delegates who attended the State Convention also
overwhelmingly approved the 2004 Missouri Republican Party Platform that
reflects the common sense, conservative values of Missouri Republicans.

Delegates are not official until the Republican National Committee and the
Convention Credentials Committee report, which is approved at the National
Convention, certify them.
