McCaskill ignores liberal record, again pretends to be a moderate

There she goes again—pretending to be an independent when it’s obvious to Missourians that Claire McCaskill has been one of Barack Obama’s closest allies since the very beginning.

Despite what she claims in her new ad, the problem for McCaskill is her record of voting with Obama.

On every major issue over the past four years—the failed stimulus, Obamacare, cap-and-trade, and massive new taxes on American job creators, among others—McCaskill has voted in lockstep with the president. In fact, according to an analysis by Congressional Quarterly, McCaskill has voted with Barack Obama 95% of the time since 2010. (Kansas City Star, February 18, 2012)

What’s worse: McCaskill has acted as Obama’s mouthpiece here in Missouri. Instead of standing up for Missourians, she has stood up for Washington—declaring the failed stimulus to be ‘wildly successful,’ touring the state to sell Obamacare, and assuring a crowd that ‘we’ll get there’ on cap-and-trade.

All of this explains why Obama declared earlier this year, “I love Claire McCaskill.” It also explains why her own children labeled her Obama’s “BFF” (St Louis Post-Dispatch, November 6, 2008), and why Politico stated that “McCaskill has unabashedly hitched herself to Obama — for better or worse, in political sickness or health.”

“Only in Washington can you vote 95% of the time with Barack Obama and still have the gall to consider yourself a moderate,” said Lloyd Smith, Executive Director of the Missouri Republican Party. “As hard as she tries, McCaskill simply cannot cover up her record of voting in lockstep with Obama on every major issue—including the failed stimulus, Obamacare, cap-and-trade, and massive new taxes on American job creators. And no matter how much money she spends, she will not convince Missourians that she is anything other than a rubberstamp for the reckless Obama agenda.”
