McCaskill “hiding” after Obamacare decision
June 29, 2012
Over the past several years, Claire McCaskill has been one of Obamacare’s most outspoken advocates, but since the Supreme Court’s decision yesterday, she has remained uncharacteristically silent.
Now, one Missouri media outlet is airing its frustration with her refusal to comment. In a lengthy segment this morning, Columbia’s KOMU reported that McCaskill’s office did not return several calls for comment, noting her deep ties to Barack Obama and her longtime support of the bill.
The video pretty much speaks for itself:
The segment also took note of McCaskill’s decision to skip the Democratic National Convention and mentioned the New York Times report that, despite her public statements to the contrary, McCaskill privately lobbied the White House against holding the convention in St Louis because she was concerned about how it could impact her campaign.
Claire McCaskill is scrambling to distance herself from Barack Obama and her record of voting with him 95% of the time since 2010—but her desperate attempts are way too little, way too late. Missourians will not forget that McCaskill cast the deciding vote to force job-killing Obamacare on the nation. McCaskill cannot erase years of lockstep support for Barack Obama’s reckless agenda by avoiding her party’s convention or refusing to comment on her signature legislative achievement.
