McCaskill’s Extreme Makeover: Jobs

February 23, 2011

Despite spending two years as a rubberstamp for the Obama agenda, Claire McCaskill is now racing to the center on issues from the spending to health care to the government’s role in job creation.

MCCASKILL THEN:

  • McCaskill: “We’re going to keep trying to do what we think might work to put people back to work.” (KMBC, February 11, 2009)
  • McCaskill: “Both of these plans have millions of jobs.” (KMBC, February 11, 2009)
  • Reporter: “McCaskill was in town today. She says this big stimulus bill is about 60% spending and 40% tax cuts. She believes it will create jobs in Missouri.” (KMBC, February 22, 2009)

MCCASKILL NOW:

  • McCaskill at a townhall meeting in Washington, MO, February 21, 2011: “Can the government create jobs? No.”

McCaskill cannot have it both ways.  The fact is that McCaskill rubberstamped Barack Obama’s wasteful $814 billion dollar stimulus bill and claimed that it would create ‘millions of jobs.’  Her election-cycle epiphany is too little, too late.
