Out of touch Ike Skelton cannot make up for support of Pelosi’s job-killing agenda
August 12, 2010
After spending the past 34 years in Washington and facing imminent political ruin for voting with Nancy Pelosi nearly 95% of the time this year, Congressman Ike Skelton is now attempting to salvage his political career by making a pitch to Missouri’s small businesses. But none of Skelton’s last ditch efforts can make up for the devastating liberal votes he cast to stay in Nancy Pelosi’s good graces.
“Ike Skelton has spent so much time in Washington doing the bidding of Nancy Pelosi that he doesn’t have a clue about how to restart the American jobs machine,” said Lloyd Smith, Executive Director of the Missouri Republican Party. “If Ike Skelton understood how jobs are created in the real world, he wouldn’t have voted every step of the way for the failure of the liberal Pelosi-Obama economic policy. Instead, he voted lockstep with Pelosi on everything from the failed ‘stimulus’ bill, to the crushing new deficits and debt that are ruining our children’s future, to the bailouts, and even a new national energy tax on everything from people’s gasoline to their utility bills.”
Skelton’s knee-jerk acceptance of the job-killing Pelosi-Obama agenda is proof that Congressman Skelton is engaged in the destruction of small businesses, instead of helping them to survive and thrive. This is in sharp contrast to Vicky Hartzler, his Republican opponent in the 4th District Congressional contest.
Hartzler owns and operates a family business that employs 50 Missourians, and she sees firsthand the detrimental effect that many of Skelton’s votes have had on Missouri’s business climate. Hartzler knows how to create jobs—Ike Skelton does not. The difference between the two candidates could not be any clearer.
