Pelosi brings Democrat campaign apparatus to Missouri on behalf of Ike Skelton

Pelosi expects Skelton to act as a “salesperson” for the national Democrats’ agenda

Ike Skelton is in the political fight of his life after voting with Nancy Pelosi more than 94% of the time, and now he is looking to the San Francisco liberal to bail out his out-of-touch campaign by purchasing television ads in the 4th district.

“Ike Skelton voted for Nancy Pelosi for Speaker of the House four times—now she is repaying the favor by using her political operation in a vain attempt to save his political career,” said Lloyd Smith, Executive Director of the Missouri Republican Party.  “In return for her support, Nancy Pelosi expects Ike Skelton to come back to Missouri and act as a salesman for the national Democrats’ liberal agenda—an agenda that Skelton voted for 94% of the time and which includes the devastating cap-and-trade bill that Skelton supported.  But Missourians aren’t buying what they’re selling, and now it’s time to send someone new to Washington to clean up the mess that Pelosi and Skelton are leaving behind.”

The New York Times is reporting that Nancy Pelosi’s DCCC has “reserved television time in 40 districts across the country, including… Ike Skelton of Missouri.”

But Pelosi’s efforts in Missouri will be in vain.  In the same Times article, Nancy Pelosi effectively explained why Skelton’s candidacy is doomed, saying: “I feel very confident about the ability of my members, who are the greatest salespersons in America, to go into their districts and make the case for what we did.”

Skelton, who has voted for Nancy Pelosi four times (2009, 2007, 2005, and 2003), should be more than willing to act as a “salesperson” for Pelosi’s agenda—or at the very least, explain why he has voted with Pelosi more than 94% of the time.
