During KC event, Obama & Carnahan show how out-of-touch they really are

July 8, 2010

Lloyd Smith, Executive Director of the Missouri Republican Party, responded to the President’s visit to Missouri to raise money on behalf of Robin Carnahan:

“We’re glad the president is visiting Missouri, but it’s too bad that he won’t listen to ordinary Missourians. President Obama paints a rosy picture of the nation as he sees it from Washington, DC—but that only goes to show how out-of-touch he really is.  The reality is that the Democrats’ stimulus package is failing, their health care bill is unpopular and possibly unconstitutional, and his cap-and-trade scheme would kill jobs for working families.

“Obama shared the stage with Robin Carnahan, who he has called one of his ‘favorite people,’ and who would rubberstamp nearly every aspect of his devastating agenda.  Carnahan even claimed that she ‘look[s] forward to helping’ Obama and the Democrats as they force their liberal policies on the nation.  In November, Missouri voters will send a clear message to Obama and Rubberstamp Robin that enough is enough.”
The facts:

  • Despite predictions that the stimulus would keep unemployment below 8%, the nation’s current unemployment rate is 9.5%, and last month 625,000 people quit looking for a job.
  • Since President Obama took office, Missouri’s unemployment rate has jumped from 8% to 9.3%.
  • Some economists are now concerned that the U.S. is poised to enter a double-dip recession.
  • According to the most recent Rasmussen Reports survey, 61% of Missourians support the repeal of the Carnahan-backed federal health care bill.
