Democrats refuse to halt reckless spending spree

JEFFERSON CITY—Lloyd Smith, Executive Director of the Missouri Republican Party, released the following statement regarding Congressional Democrats efforts to raise the nation’s debt limit:

“Led by Nancy Pelosi and backed by Ike Skelton and Russ Carnahan, Congress spent our nation into a $1.4 trillion dollar deficit in 2009—but that was just the beginning.  By voting to raise the nation’s debt ceiling, Skelton and Carnahan made it clear that they have no intention to stop their reckless spending spree.

“Missouri’s families know that when your credit card is maxed out, it’s time to stop spending money.  But instead of tightening their belts and acting responsibly, Missouri’s Congressional Democrats are following Nancy Pelosi’s lead and digging a deeper financial hole—passing a crushing debt on to Missouri’s children and grandchildren.”
