Statement From Missouri Republican Party Chairman David Cole on Jim Talent’s Announcement

JEFFERSON CITY – Missouri Republican Party Chairman David Cole today issued the following statement on former Senator Jim Talent’s announcement that he will not run for the U.S. Senate in 2010:

"This is classic Jim Talent, a gentleman and a statesman who puts others before himself and his personal goals.  With this announcement Jim Talent is helping unite our Party in this critical election cycle.

"The Missouri Republican Party is truly fortunate to have a leader like Jim Talent working with us to elect a Republican ticket in 2010.  We look forward to his leadership as we work to maintain and grow our majorities in the Missouri House and Senate, elect a Republican auditor and retain Senator Kit Bond’s Senate seat so that Missouri’s representation in the United States Senate does not become a rubber stamp for the Democrat-controlled Congress and White House."
