A Time of Thanksgiving: A Message From Governor Blunt
November 20, 2007
During this time of year, we pause and reflect on the many blessings that have been bestowed on each of us and gather with our families and friends to celebrate Thanksgiving.
I am thankful for all of Missouri’s working men and women and the employers who create opportunities and jobs for Missourians. I believe every Missourian deserves the chance to have a good family-supporting job and have worked to bring greater opportunity to our state. We have enacted reforms and created bold new incentives to encourage job creation. Missourians have reacted by adding new jobs and opportunities to our economy.
This past week we celebrated Veterans Day, and I am thankful for all the generations of Missourians and Americans who have worn the uniforms of our Soldiers, Sailors, Airmen and Marines. Our veterans and current military heroes are true patriots who have put their lives on the line to defend our freedom and security. Their fight for freedom has helped millions around the world experience the joys of freedom and grow up in a democratic society.
I am thankful for the many charitable organizations throughout Missouri and their volunteers who provide support to their neighbors during their time of need. Across the state, Missourians have seen many and varied needs in their communities and Missourians have reached out to meet those needs with compassion, ingenuity and generosity.
As we prepare for the upcoming season of Thanksgiving, I am thankful for all of those who help to make our state such a wonderful place to live, work and raise a family. Melanie, William Branch and I wish Missourians a very happy Thanksgiving holiday!
Governor Matt Blunt
